Like wheel, truck, trailer, and stationary models, track log loaders use a hydraulic boom and grapple to pick up and move timber. Track loaders vary in size and lifting capacity, and can be outfitted with grapples designed either for lifting one log at a time or for lifting and carrying multiple logs.

Track vs. Other Types

Track log loaders are generally considered to be a bit more stable than other mobile loader types, especially when used on steep inclines and rugged or shifting terrain. This includes times when inclement weather may make the forest floor difficult for wheeled loaders to traverse. And while they may not have the same height and lifting capabilities of some stationary models or the speed of wheel models, they make up for that with a deliberate mobility that helps them operate in hard-to-reach places that other machines may not be able to go.
