    About Stationary Log Loaders

    Barko 495B Stationary Log Loader

Log loaders, which use a boom and grapple combination to load and unload logs from and to trucks or various landing areas, are a vital link in the production chain of many logging operations. Stationary log loaders aren’t built with the mobility that other log loader types exhibit, and as such need to be hauled to a location and properly secured in place prior to use. Because they are planted firmly, however, they can often lift and move heavier loads than some wheel or track models. There are also different configurations among stationary log loaders; some have dedicated cabs and others can be operated remotely, which opens them up for a greater range of potential usage scenarios.

    A More Permanent Solution

Whereas track, wheel, truck, and trailer log loaders are specifically deigned to be mobile, stationary log loaders are best-suited for use at permanent or at least semi-permanent staging areas. For example, if you have something of an assembly line where you use processors, harvesters, delimbers, and yarders to bring logs close to a landing area and then use a log loaders to put the lumber onto trucks, a stationary model might be a good option. These machines are also great for use at sawmills or lumber yards where other stationary machines are frequently used.
